Learn To Walk Unencumbered
Welcome! My name is Fionnuala (Finnoola) and I am here to offer you a place to come to and explore. I am not here to fix, heal or change you. I am here to hold space while you uncover all of the ways that you deny yourself. The discovery of those places of denial, and the subsequent awarenesses, is where the shifting of your life begins.
When we are born, we arrive complete! We are in a state of open connection to ourselves and our true nature. As we grow there are experiences that tell us that we are THIS or THAT (conditioning and programing). We begin to be pulled from our true nature and start the journey of creating a self that becomes the You that is here today.
The journey is the walk away from the peace and the knowing of your connection to yourself. The self that has intuitive knowing of your needs and wants, the ability to choose what is in your own best interest. The severing of the connection to self can be a simple cue from childhood to a monumental happening (or sustained trauma) that creates a self that does not know where they begin or end.
All of these “happenings” create their own emotional landscape. It is the unravelling of this landscape, returning you to peace, joy and fulfillment, that I would like to ask you to consider.
There was a point in my life that I became aware that there was truly something watching out for me. In my thirties I remembered things that happened in my teens that, I knew, lead me in another direction, showed me what would happen if I acted on a choice one way or another. Right before I got sober the same feeling came over me and let me know that this was not where I belonged, using drugs and alcohol. This “feeling” has shown up for me throughout my life over and over.
I was an intensely shy child, afraid of everything. By 12 I was trying to understand how I could leave the earth, by 14 I cut my wrists and at 15 I almost succeeded. Then I found boys, drugs and alcohol. By 18 I was pregnant and had my daughter in January of my 19th year. All this happening in a big house up on a hill filled with beautiful things and 4 kids in private school.
I put alcohol and drugs down when I was 28. My life started to shift. Going to Alcoholic Anonymous was a game changer. I learned life skills that I needed to start to live a life that was somewhat “normal”. This was the beginning of my looking into myself and my behavior through therapy. I was in some form of therapy, talk or other healing modalities, for years.
Being raised Catholic a sense of a higher power was instilled in me. I had many experiences of an “awareness and contact” with “More”. I now call this energy the Divine, God, Love. “It” always presented as an overwhelming presence of love and peace, which would then relax me into the moment of whatever was happening to me. Now I know that this loving presence gifted me with the awareness that life is not just a disjointed series of negative things happening to me. Life could be created one step at a time through choices that reached for the belief in a positive outcome.
Over the next 34 years I created many “lives” within this one life. Married 3 times, raising a daughter, and many relationships later, I can say this one truth I have been presented with… My ultimate learning has come to the LOVE OF SELF. All the reaching out for others has been the distraction from stepping into my True Nature.
My wholeness has been with me my entire life, I had to stop and face all the parts of me that felt overwhelming and ugly. How? Make time and room to experience what is presented to you, asking to be felt and loved and honored. I had to go through every experience, suffer endlessly, to come to the realization that I AM THE PRESENCE OF LOVE ITSELF, AS ARE YOU. I found my true connection again, you can too!
Here I am at 19. My daughter was 6 months old. I was a lost and scared human, trying to play at being a mom.
This photo is me at 28 celebrating my daughters confirmation. I am very hung over. 4 months later I checked myself into the hospital.
